Pyrex Transport Tote | corelle brands: 2013

I was assigned this short-term project during my time at Corelle Brands, and it was my first foray into any type of soft goods development.

BACKGROUND

As the number of people willing to take home-cooked meals to work and beyond increases, it became apparent to Corelle that they did not offer a portable solution for transporting Pyrex glass containers -- as they do for their glass Bakeware series.

Objective

Develop a soft-goods carrying tote specifically for existing Pyrex glass containers; and marketed towards the "On-The-Go" eating demographic keen on avoiding BPA plastics and heating up food in plastic containers.

The concepts should maintain the Pyrex brand language and highlight glass as the preferred material for food storage.
outcome

At the close of my internship, I presented three tote concepts to the Corelle team -- each exploring unique closures, aesthetics, and handling methods. I also proposed a microwaveable ‘cozy’ concept to prevent burns after heating the glass containers.

I should note that my mentors on the team encouraged me each step of the way to push beyond traditional closure mechanisms to include more inventive and artistic solutions; with CONCEPT 1: STEP being the safest solution, and CONCEPT 3: LEAP being the most forward-thinking and creative.
CONCEPT 1: STEP
CONCEPT 2: STRETCH
CONCEPT 3: LEAP
